The influences behind San Lazaro’s ‘La Despedida’

San Lazaro’s second album ‘La Despedida’ is about to drop (Friday 22nd July)!! In celebration the band put together a playlist that highlights influence and inspiration behind the writing and recording of the LP. Dig in…

PREMIERE | San Lazaro’s psyche cumbia track ‘La Ola’

LISTEN HERE

La Ola is the second single from San Lazaro’s ‘La Despedida’ Album. A bouncing piece of psychedelic garage cumbia featuring twangy guitars, ‘down the well’ echo vocals and bumping oompah bass.

Heavily influenced by the “Chicha” sound of 1970s Peru and the classic cumbias of Colombia’s Discos Fuentes label, La Ola is the tale of a fickle love that comes and goes like the tides and the waves.

Digital cumbia has become one of the great dance music movements of the 21st century. La Ola goes back in time to the genre’s roots and connects them to the future. San Lazaro’s ‘La Despedida’ album is available on 22nd of July.
