Hannah Macklin is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and music educator based in Meanjin (Brisbane). With both classical training and a jazz degree Hannah has spent the last ten years writing, playing and recording across Australia and around the word both in groups of her own direction (MKO Sun, Bastard Amber and Ha Na) and in numerous sessional and supporting roles. Her forthcoming album “Mu” set to be her first on Hopestreet Recordings was created in Melbourne in 2019 with producer Nick Herrera (Hiatus Kaiyote) and a string ensemble led by Esther Henderson on violin.
Past performance highlights include CMJ Music Marathon in NYC (2014), Shanghai World Expo (2010), Sydney International Mardi Gras (2016) and Big Day Out (2014). Major support slots include Hiatus Kaiyote, Peaches, Ibeyi, Cody ChesnuTT and Fatima. Hannah was the recipient of the Grant McLennan Fellowship and the National Live Music Awards “Best Live Voice” award (both in 2016) as well as winning two QLD Music Awards for her original songs in the Electronic/Dance and Jazz categories in 2013 and 2010 respectively. Hannah is also currently a lecturer at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.
