Leisure Centre in collaboration with Horatio Luna release a brand new remix of “You Don’t Want To Be With Me,” from their Mind Full album. Bassist, producer and remix artist Horatio Luna has somehow flipped the slow jam tempo of the original into a bouncing piece of altered house music 30bpm faster. All the elements of the original track are still there – flipped, clipped and reconstituted into an entirely new piece of music.
“I approached the remix with a fresh touch and pop sensibility, lending techniques from LA beatmakers like Knxwledge. Whenever I remix a song I always want to treat the essence of the original with care and respect while also expressing how I’m feeling on that particular day” – Horatio Luna on the process.
Horatio Luna is the alter ego of Henry Hicks, bassist and founding member of Melbourne’s 3070 collective. The Horatio Luna project has seen the left-leaning jazz musician release a plethora of boldly experimental compositions and improvisations blending live jazz and Detroit house. Horatio Luna exists as a live project where Henry shares the stage with Ziggy Zeitgeist (ZFEX) and Jimmy Bowman (Dufresne) and as a studio project for Hicks’ composition and remix work.
